SATURNINO CANTALAPIEDRA
A Story of Passion
Saturnino was my grandfather, the pharmacist of my town, La Seca.
He had the vision that the Verdejo grape would become the variety par excellence in the area given that the terrain and climate were optimal for the good cultivation of this type of grape, and he was right.
The combination of his passion and his knowledge in chemistry did the rest and led him to contribute greatly to the founding of the Bodega Cooperativa de La Seca, one of the first wineries in the area, and thus he became its unofficial winemaker. He was also an advisor to other vintners in the region.
It is in gratitude for his extraordinary contribution to the world of Verdejo wines that we have named our wine after him: Saturnino Cantalapiedra, a symbol of the effort and love he professed for this land and the world of wine.
2023
The wine
Saturnino Cantalapiedra Rueda Verdejo
Saturnino has an intense straw yellow color. The nose has a medium-high intensity, with green apple, peach and notes of aromatic herbs typical of the variety.
In the mouth it is intense and complex. The retronasal is complex and intense.
Saturnino is a fresh white wine, smooth but well structured, tasty and aromatic.
We recommend pairing it with fish and seafood, rice, pasta, white meats and cheeses.
The vineyard
The golden mile of Verdejo
Our grapes are from a 33-year-old vineyard. It is located on the so-called Verdejo Golden Mile, in the best area of the Rueda Designation of Origin.
